Watmore Farm 15th May ’22
The final match of the series was held at a very wet Watmore Farm on Sunday.
Glen Briggs won the match with 105lbs of carp, most of which were caught on the waggler, and the rest caught late short on meat. Dave Mustoe was second with 74lbs of carp caught on the slow sinking bubble and the method feeder, and Doug Read was third with half a dozen carp which he caught late by lobbing a method feeder ten feet out from the bank.
The main event of the day though was the completion of the club championship series. Mike Smith fished a brilliant series to win the title with a fantastic 366 points – that’s a mean average of over 28 points per match, a great effort by Mike who blew the opposition away and fully deserves the title of club champion. Runner up Mick Catten chased Mike hard, but some bad luck at the draw bag a late run of poor results did for him in the end. And third place went to Keith Gibson, who has fished a very good series and was worthy of a podium finish.
The top eight anglers in the championship all won a cash prize and Mike also won a free year’s membership which was kindly donated by the club. Finally, a big thank you to all who supported the series and made it such an enjoyable competition to be part of. We hope to see you all again next time.
