Pondwood Snake 17th July ’22
The opening round of the series was originally scheduled to take place at our own Marriners Pool, but unfortunately due to low oxygen levels, the fishery had to be temporarily closed so we had to find a replacement venue. We managed to secure the Pondwood snake and with the very high temperatures, the woodland setting with all its tree cover made it a pleasant setting for the match.
Glen Briggs picked up where he left off last series by winning the match with a mixed catch of small stockie carp and Ide going 48-8-0. Two pegs away, Clive Bunday took the runner up spot with a similar catch that went 37-14-0 and third place went to Mike Smith who had some bigger carp the lion’s den that is peg 14. The section winners were Dave Mustoe and Perry Fairclough, and the specimen was won by Doug Read.
The next match is this coming Sunday at The Mill Pond which is also currently closed due to the hot weather. But with the forecast predicting for more moderate temperatures, we are optimistic the fishery will re-open, and the match will go ahead.
