Goldsworth 14th August ’22
Goldsworth Park was the venue for round three of the series and with bream being the main target species, the hot, flat calm and sunny conditions were far from ideal. As the match unfolded, it was clear that the resident bream were not in a feeding mood, and other fish such as roach, perch and skimmers, plus a couple of bonus tench were to play a key part in the result.
Darren Chennery was the only angler to find the bream in any numbers catching six of them for a level twenty pounds to win the match. Darren fished a groundbait feeder with maggot hookbait, and unusually an eight-foot tail to tempt the slabs.
Stuart Pollmer drew the favoured island peg and landed a couple of bream and a superb 6-13-0 tench on a maggot feeder to put 15-13-0 on the scales and take the runner up spot. And third place went to Clive Bunday who’s patience paid off with three late bream after switching to a worm tipped with caster hookbait to boost his catch.
The section winners were Glen Briggs who had a bonus 5lbs tench, and Perry Fairclough who worked hard for 9lbs on the pole, and the specimen was won by Ron Chenery with a 4-8-0 bream.
