Home Park 2nd October ’22

Round five of the championship took place on the river Thames at Windsor, and with the river in good condition, we were looking forward to a good day out. The best pegs were on the lower end of the venue, and although the river was very clear, it had some good flow and produced some excellent catches of quality roach. Ryan Fairclough got off to a flying start and looked all day to be comfortably in the lead, but at the way in, his father Perry won comfortably with 25-14-0 of superb quality roach of up to a pound. Ryan took the runner up spot with 21-8-0, another lovely bag of roach which included the specimen, a perch of 1-11-0 and a roach of 1-0-0. Both Perry and Ryan caught fishing red maggot over groundbait on the pole. The boat traffic was sparse, and we had a lovely day out and we are lucky to have a good core following for venues like this. For me personally, I prefer this type of fishing to the commercials which I find can be a bit predictable. So I hope we are able to please everybody in the match group with the varied fixtures. John Colman took third spot with 14-3-0, and Stuart Pollmer was fourth with 9-14-0. Great weights from a natural venue.
